I have been asked by the LA to share the following information.

There has been confusion surrounding the symptoms of COVID 19 – as an LA we are following the Public Health England advice of COVID symptoms.

These are:

  • A high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • A new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal.

We would be grateful if you would remind parents of these symptoms and to take children for a test if they display any of these symptoms.

Can you please also ensure that children who have had a test if displaying symptoms and are awaiting test results do not go into school whilst awaiting results.

Any questions please don't hesitate to ask me and I'll do my best to answer them!

Stay safe,

Mr Waddington
