17th December 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

It’s beginning to feel a bit like Christmas… and I hope all the events put on by school have helped you feel that way.

I feel very privileged to be Acting Headteacher of an Infant School where all staff go the extra mile to make your child’s experiences exceptional. From the Christmas Fair to Nativities to Choir singing at the Cathedral to trips out to Christmas parties! The last few weeks have been packed with ‘moments of joy’ and I want to thank all staff for planning and carrying out so many wonderful and memorable occasions.

It is not only Mary who is having a baby at the end of December… Our Nursery teacher, Miss Worcester is due to have her baby very soon and will be starting her maternity leave over Christmas. We wish her and her growing family all the best. Miss Lau will be returning to our school to teach in Nursery from January. We also need to pass on our congratulations to Miss Clinton as she has just given birth to a beautiful baby girl and will also be enjoying her maternity leave as we begin the new year.

As you will all be aware the Governors at both Meadowhead Community Infant School and Nursery and Meadowhead Junior School are proposing to federate into one governing body. The consultation document can be found on our website and I ask that you please read it and then either email your response to or return the response slip to school in the New Year.

There will be a chance to ask Governors any questions you may have about the proposal on Thursday the 6th January at 5pm at the Junior School.

I also want to thank the Shaun Haggart Foundation who have helped make our children’s Christmas more magical by providing all children with a Christmas present and selection box from Father Christmas this year.

Another big thank you to all the families who supported our Christmas Fair and members of the community who had a stall. It was a fantastic success raising just over £900 for School Fund.

School re-opens to all pupils on Wednesday 5th January at 8:45. Breakfast club will be open from 7:45 onwards and costs just £1. All children, including those in nursery, are welcome to attend.

On behalf of everyone at Meadowhead Infants I would like to wish all our families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
