Dear Parents and Carers,
What another fantastic half term! As covid rules have been relaxed, it has been fantastic inviting parents and carers back into school. I was blown away by the attendace at our our Mothers Day assembly last week as it has been over 2 years since we have been able to have so many grown ups into the hall. I hope you enjoyed the occasion and the children made you smile.
As you are aware the school gate opens from 8.45am and closes at 8.55am each day. If you arrive after 8.55, you will have to enter through the main office and your child will be registered as late. If they arrive after 9:30 it will be classed as an unathorised absense for the morning session. School and Nursery close at 3:10pm.
I am still seeing too many children arriving to school late everyday. It is really important that your child arrives to school on time each day. If they arrive late, they will miss their vital phonics lesson and reading practice that day.
As you can see from the information below, every minute matters and in order to help your child get the best start in life, please ensure they arrive on time.
If your child is not in school for a day please contact the school office to let us know.
As a school we aim for all children to achieve 96%. Every lesson really does count for your child as children can quickly fall behind even if one day is missed. Catching up even a little lost time from school can be really difficult. Good attendance is linked to achievement, better relationships with other children and better overall behaviour in school. It is often the case that children with poor attendance are often academically behind their peers.
Poor attendance seriously hampers the life chances of your children.
Here are the attendance percentages of each class within school.
Sadly, all classes are currently behind our target of 96% with is the national average.
We can do better and I know this will improve in the Summer Term!
Phonics and Early Reading
Our new approach to teaching phonics is going brilliantly and the children are making great progress. This is a reminder that the children take home their Reading Practice book on a Wednesday and Thursday to practice at home.
This book must be returned on a Thursday and a Friday so it is available for other children to read the following week. Sadly, I have already had to ask a few parents to pay for damaged books, so please teach your child to take care and look after their books.
Year 2 SATS Meeting
After the Easter Holidays, we would like to invite all Year 2 parents and carers to a Year 2 information meeting. This in an opportunity for you to find out all relevant, important information about the Key Stage 1 assessments and for you to ask any questions you may have. This will take place on Wednesday 20th April 2022 at 2:30pm in your child’s classroom. It is very important that you attend.
After School Club
We will be offering the children at both the Infant the Junior schools an opportunity to attend an After School Club starting from Tuesday 7th June. The club will run in the Infant hall everyday of the week. More details will be shared after the Easter Holiday.
A reminder to all parents and carers that we have a fantastic breakfast club is open every day from 7:45am. It costs only a £1 and is open to all children. No pre-booking is required; you can just turn up!
School will re-open to all children on Tuesday 19th April at 8.45am or 7.45am for breakfast club.
I wish all our families a happy and safe Easter – Don’t eat too much chocolate!
