Dear Parents and Carers,

I cannot believe we are at the end of the half term and what a half term it has been!

I am proud of every single child in school as they have all returned to school superbly and adapted brilliantly to the safety measures put in place. Learning had been ‘lost’ because of Lockdown but due to EVERYONE (children, parents, teachers) working hard, all children are beginning to catch up – especially in phonics and consequently reading. We need to keep up this hard work after half term – and we will.

My aim is for all children to reach their reading potential and we have certainly started that journey this half term.

Parents Evening and Parental Survey

Thank you to all the parents who spoke to their child’s teachers this week about how they are doing at school. I know by working closely together we can help every child to be happy in school and reach their full potential.  If you have not spoken to your child’s class teacher, please arrange a time with them.

Also a big thanks for completing the survey that I sent out via text. It is very positive and I will share the findings with everyone after half term.

Remote Learning

As mentioned last week we have a legal duty (and rightly so) to provide remote learning if your child is absent from school because they are self-isolating. There will be more information shared after half term but please can I ask all parents to download the Class Dojo app to their phone or their child’s tablet, if they have one.

All teachers will have sent you a message via Class Dojo for your child to access their portfolio and complete some activities over the half term holiday.  This is how home learning will be sent if a bubble has to self-isolate for two weeks.

Free Lunches over Half Term

As shared via Faecbook if we have partnered with the amazing pwople at Secret Santa who will ne offering free lunches to children at Unit 1 Fitness for Women in Mill Hill on Albert Street, BB2 4BL. You can collect a lunch from 12 till 3pm.

At school we are always thinking of ways we can ‘sell’ our school by raising its profile in the local area. We are extremely proud of the children and staff in school and want others to see what fabulous things the children get up to on a day to day basis. To help us raise the school’s profile, we would love it if you could ‘Like’ and ‘Share’ our Facebook page - Meadowhead Community Infant School and Nursery, to showcase our school to a wider audience and allow more people to get a glimpse of our wonderful school!

It leaves me with nothing else to say but have a happy and safe half term,

Mr Waddington

Don't forget school re-opens on Monday the 2nd November at 8:45!!!
