Affordable food support for residents of Blackburn with Darwen

 SPROUTS Food Club provides low-cost food boxes to support households who are struggling financially.

It is designed to help people who may not need emergency food support but are finding it difficult to afford food due to rising costs or unexpected changes to their circumstances.

 SPROUTS is here when you need it – there is no requirement to order every week and no ongoing commitment.

 Who can join?
SPROUTS Food Club is available to residents of Blackburn with Darwen who:

  • Have experienced an unexpected event that has impacted their finances (for example illness, job loss, reduced working hours or emergency costs)
  • Are struggling with the cost of living or rising household bills
  • Would benefit from affordable food to help support their household

 What does the food box include?

Food boxes may include a mix of:

  • Fresh meat, Fresh fruit and vegetables, Tinned and dried food, Cheese and yoghurt and Bread

Contents may vary each week.

 Cost

  • Large food box: £10
  • Small food box: £6

The remaining cost of each box is subsidised by the Household Support Fund.

How it works

There is no annual membership fee

Food boxes must be pre-ordered

  • Orders are taken Wednesday to Friday (by 12 noon) and must be placed via the Sprouts box link provided by text after all information is received
  • Boxes are collected the following Tuesday between 10.30am - 6.00pm
  • If you miss the cut-off, or boxes sell out, customers will be added to the following week.

To apply for SPROUTS Food Club, please email:

Include the following information:

  • Your name
  • Address (to confirm Blackburn with Darwen residency)
  • Mobile phone number
  • Number of adults in your household
  • Number of children (under 18)
  • A brief explanation of why you need support at this time

Eligible applicants will be sent an invitation to join SPROUTS and information on how to order and pay in advance for their food box.
